*Now June 23rd* The Charlie Horwood Memorial Lady Slipper Orchid Walk

June 23, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

We had to postpone our orchid walk twice as the blooming time was just not right. The walk is now a go for Saturday June 23rd, thanks for your patience!

The Charlie Horwood Memorial Lady Slipper Orchid Walk

NatureNL hosts an annual short field trip on Mount Scio to view the pink
lady slipper orchids. Initially Charlie Horwood, a long-time natural
historian and a founding member of NatureNL, led this walk.  Since his
death, we have continued the traditional outing. While the re-growth and
development of trails in the area have markedly reduced their numbers, we
typically see several hundred blooms in the 75 minute easy walk.

Meet at the MUN Vivarium Parking Lot, off Mount Scio Road, opposite
and a bit east of the MUN Botanical Garden entrance at 10:00. Park in the
paved lot off that roadway, on the right very near Mount Scio Road.
