On November 10, 2011, a letter was sent to The Honourable Peter Kent, Minister of the Environment, expressing dismay at the his dropping funding for the environmental networks. It originated with the Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA), and Nature NL and over 100 other groups have signed on. As yet there has been no response from the minister. A follow-up media campaign is planned.
