Happy #WetlandWednesday 🌿💧 We are rolling o Happy #WetlandWednesday 🌿💧 We are rolling out another wetland inspired book recommendation series this time in collaboration with Aquatic Conservation Initiative. Wetlands are an everyday part of our lives. Often quietly present, sometimes right under our noses. They appear in guides, novels, and stories, both directly and indirectly. To celebrate these vital ecosystems, we came together to highlight some guides and novels that have taught us about wetlands, made us think about their importance, or were set in these unique landscapes. The connections aren’t always obvious, but the impact is real. We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite wetland themed or referenced guides and novels, hoping to inspire you to notice the small things that hold great value. 📚Have you read a novel or guide with a wetland theme or reference? Share it in the comments! Your recommendation could be featured as a “Wetland Fan Pick” in our next lineup. This media is supported by Aquatic Ecosystems Restoration Fund (AERF) made possible by @FisheriesOceansCAN In efforts of restoration and conservation of aquatic ecosystems

This past Saturday we teamed up with the Cupids Tr This past Saturday we teamed up with the Cupids Trail Committee for a hike and BioBlitz on the Spectacle Head Trail! Together, we logged 167 observations and identified 51 different species. 🐞🌲 Huge thanks to everyone who joined us Thank you to Wildlife Habitat Canada for supporting Nature NL’s Activities! Wildlife Habitat Canada (WHC) is a non-profit organization that conserves wildlife habitat by making investments in conservation. In 2020, WHC introduced the Community Conservation Action Program (CCAP) as a pilot, to help smaller organizations access the funding that they need to make a difference in conservation within their community. This program supports WHC’s commitment to find innovative projects that get Canadians outdoors, connecting with nature! #WHC #BioBlitz #iNaturalist #Cupids #HikeNL
We’re taking time off on this day to reflect on We’re taking time off on this day to reflect on the tragic legacy of residential schools, remember the children we lost, and honor the survivors.
Today, we stand with Indigenous communities. We encourage everyone to take part in educational events, learn more about Indigenous history and culture, and find ways to become actively involved in reconciliation efforts. #TruthAndReconciliation

Happy #wetlandwednesday Wetlands are often termed Happy #wetlandwednesday Wetlands are often termed "Nature's sponge" 🧽 because they soak up and hold water during heavy rain falls or snow melt just like a sponge. Slowly releasing that water over time, which helps prevent flooding, keeps spreams flowing during dry periods, and recharges groundwater. By storing and balancing water, wetlands protect communities, support wildlife, and keep ecosystems healthy.
