Ken Knowles, retired MUN Professor of Music, musician, photographer, and birding guide, spends almost every day from December to March trying to sort out the bewildering variety of gulls at Quidi Vidi Lake. On a good day there can be over ten thousand gulls present on the lake, from a wide variety of species. As a result, Quidi Vidi Lake is attracting increasing numbers of birding tourists from both North America and Europe. Join Ken Knowles to learn about ways of identifying both the common and rare wintering gulls and why Quidi Vidi Lake has such an appeal to birds and birders.
